What makes a good pediatric dentist? There’s a hundred different reasons that a parent might choose one pediatric dentist over another! In my opinion, the criteria for choosing the Best Pediatric Dentist in Asheville are simple:
A. Specialty – In my opinion, it is essential to hire any professional (for any reason) who is an expert and specialized in their field. It’s not enough to just be a dentist, it is important that your child’s dentist have the necessary skills and experience with children in particular. Can you imagine taking a scared child to the dentist for the first time (and all that experience could entail) and having a dentist who doesn’t have the necessary child/people skills or patience to ease a scared child’s fears and emotions around this potentially scary new experience!?
B. Experience – being a parent myself (to a 7yr old boy), in my opinion, it is essential for a pediatric dentist office to create a cheerful, welcoming, comfortable environment for children. My son’s pediatric dentist’s office does such an incredible job tailoring the experience at every step to their little patients’ unique needs! More on that in a minute!
C. Reviews – Reviews matter. When choosing your pediatric dentist, be sure to read their online reviews (keeping in mind that any business, who’s been in business for a while will have at least a handful of negative reviews because people are totally crazy and you can’t make everyone happy all the time!) But, the majority of the reviews should be positive! Also, ask your community! Ask your friends, ask your online moms’ groups who they’re seeing and why they love them! This will help tremendously in identifying the pediatric dentist for you!

Great smiles met all of the necessary criteria mentioned above! First, they specialize in and only treat babies, kids and teens! Second, the experience (and, I truly cannot say enough about this) is tailored at every step toward the unique needs of their littlest patients, right down to Dr. Doug’s silly shoes (which break the ice, help him connect with the littlest patients and put them at ease in what could be a stressful, scary situation for them!) And lastly, the reviews were all stellar both on google (they have 934 reviews, the most of any practice in Asheville and they have a 4.9 rating, which is pretty darn good!) and within my community of friends locally and within the online mom’s groups!
