Hello! I'm Brittany Sisk, WNC native, artist, entrepreneur, adventurer, world traveler, music enthusiast & boy mama!
One of the most interesting facts about me is that I'm a third generation photographer!
I have been working as a professional family photographer in Asheville for the last fifteen years! Native to the region, I've hiked all over these Blue Ridge Mountains and can show you all of the most beautiful, off the beaten path places that Asheville and it's surrounding mountains have to offer! I'm mama to the most adorably rotten, sweet, silly seven year old boy! In this season of life, motherhood is the biggest part of my identity & Noah Atlas is absolutely "my why!"

Finally! I waited so long for this man to show up! ๐
I grew up vacationing on the coast of SC and had been staying on Folly every summer for the last 7 years! And then when I least expected it (I hate this cliche because people said to me for years, but it's true!), there he was... and he was everything I had ever dreamed of in a partner for me and a role model for my son.

Becoming a single mother was never in my grand life plan. But, God doesn't make mistakes and I honestly feel like my life started here... I had stepped into my destiny. This little boy is my whole entire world. Being his mama is everything to me. He is and always will be the best thing I've ever done and my life's greatest blessing.
Having a commercial storefront studio space of my own had been a dream of mine for years but it was never the right time. It wasn't the right time when I became surprise pregnant in 2017. And, it wasn't the right time when COVID hit just as I felt comfortable to do so in 2020. But 2022 was the year. I love the studio so much, it's like my own creative wonderland! It brings me so much joy!
...........more exciting things to come!
Being an Artist, being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart! The industry is heavily saturated and it's a hard industry to make it in. Ever resilient and stubborn, I dug in and I simply refused to fail. I found a mentor, attended workshops & conferences, joined professional organizations, got a business coach and did everything I could learn about business and improve my craft. Fifteen years later, here I am, opening a second studio in Charleston!
STARTED MY BUSINESS IN ASHEVILLE, NC
2009
Most of my generation believed a traditional four year college path was the only way to achieve the American Dream. I went to ECU right out of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to become but I had been a US Congressional Page in high school so I majored in Political Science.
GRADUATED FROM ECU
2006
A third generation photographer, it feels like photography has just always been part of my life. I was always playing with old cameras as a child and when I was nine, I received my first camera.

When I discovered that my liberal arts degree was basically worthless, I went on to grad school and majored in Public Policy. After that, I finally realized that I didn't want to do that at all....I wanted to be an artist and 15 years later, here I am!

I am so pleased to introduce you to my friend and colleague, Melissa! Melissa has joined the Asheville Portrait Company Team as an Associate Photographer which means Melissa will be shooting some Family & Extended Family Sessions this fall!
The addition of Melissa to the team ensures more flexible availability because while Melissa may be shooting your Family or Extended Family Portrait Session, I will be editing every session in that true to life, rich, dreamy signature Asheville Portrait Co style that you love!
Melissa is a mother of two and has been working professionally as a wedding & family photographer in Asheville for the last eight years! My favorite thing about Melissa is that she's just so incredibly friendly & easy to be with! She's a true delight of a human being and I am 100% confident that you will love working with her!
Sweet Melissa
how it started
A third generation photographer, I grew up in a home with beautiful, old black & white portraits lining our walls & filling our drawers. I think I've always loved faces, relationships & artistic storytelling because of it. After graduate school, I moved home to Asheville, opened my portrait company and never looked back! I've been telling love stories professionally in these mountains for the last 15 years and for you, that means: reliable, consistent, quality work, every time!
I can't wait to know you!

Brittany did a fantastic job on the photos of my very large family (21)! We had gathered from across the country for a family reunion in the Asheville area and I depended on her expertise to suggest a spot with autumn color. The session at Biltmore went smoothly and she made sure we got the most out of our time with her. She is organized and knows what works! Brittany. You rock!

Brittany was a dream to work with! She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. I had a vision for what I wanted in my maternity photos and she executed perfectly. She created the most beautiful boho bedroom in her studio and it was exactly how I pictured it to be. Sheโs extremely creative and makes it fun! She made us feel so comfortable and Iโm normally the most awkward person in front of a camera. But with Brittany, it felt natural. I am in love with the photos! ๐

What an amazing experience! Having fun and large family group photography might not sound like they would go together, but our extended family of 18 had a great time in our photo shoot with Brittany. She was so easy to work with throughout the process. From the planning, to the shoot, to the delivery of our photos she was professional, approachable, creative, and calming. We'll treasure the time we spent at this family reunion and now we have these lovely heirlooms to capture our time together.
