I am so pleased to introduce you to my friend and colleague, Melissa! Melissa has joined the Asheville Portrait Company Team as an Associate Photographer which means Melissa will be shooting some Family & Extended Family Sessions this fall!
The addition of Melissa to the team ensures more flexible availability because while Melissa may be shooting your Family or Extended Family Portrait Session, I will be editing every session in that true to life, rich, dreamy signature Asheville Portrait Co style that you love!
Melissa is a mother of two and has been working professionally as a wedding & family photographer in Asheville for the last nine years! My favorite thing about Melissa is that she's just so incredibly friendly & easy to be with! She's a true delight of a human being and I am 100% confident that you will love working with her!
Brittany is the Founder, Owner, Primary Photographer & Editor at Asheville Portrait Company! In addition to those duties, she is also the secretary, the scheduler, the sales exec, the book keeper, the marketing & advertising exec as well as web developer, blogger and social media personality, Not only that, she busy mom (+ bonus mom) of two 7&8 year old boys which means she's running a household & sharing responsibility for the day to day raising those wild boys including school carpool, guitar lessons, theater, baseball and soccer practices and games!
At home, she's head chef, maid, launderer chauffeur for doctor's appointments, birthday parties, practices, games and play dates --- in addition to these less than glamorous aspects of maintaining a home (and studio).
Ever the ambitious crazy person, Brittany went ahead and opened a second studio in Charleston in the persuit of her happily every after!
While she will be commuting back to Asheville 2-3 times per month to shoot Maternity, Newborn, Family & Extended Family Sessions in Asheville.
You might be thinking to yourself: "I'm exhausted just reading that, how does she do ALL of that?" Not entirely delusional, Brittany quickly recognized that she couldn't possibly do it all and needed some help!

At Asheville Portrait Company, we value family & try really hard to prioritize having a Healthy Work / Life Balance. We believe that it directly affects our attitude, energy, creativity and ultimately our success.
As such, we can only accept 10 families for Family Portrait Sessions each month.
We encourage you to book you session as far in advance as possible to ensure availability for your family!

How far in advance should we book our session?
We can shoot in and around Asheville proper, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, at Biltmore Estate, Max Patch, the NC Arboretum, UNCA Botanical Gardens, Warren Wilson College, at one of our iconic Waterfalls, at a Mountain Lake, in one our Creeks or Rivers!
The possibilities are limitless!
During your pre-session phone consultation, I will talk with you about the types of locations that interest you & help you to select a photo location that will be perfect for your family!

Where & When do we shoot?
The softest, most flattering light of the day happens 90 minutes after sunrise or 90 minutes before sunset. With that being said, we can shoot at any time of day, as long as you understand that the sunlight (looks) different at 1pm than it does at 6pm. If you want to shoot an outdoor or adventure session in the middle of the day, we’ll just need to get a little creative with locations, vantage point and posing!

What time of day do we shoot?
I am frequently asked to photograph Extended Families vacationing in Asheville! I am happy to travel to your vacation rental or I can show you some of the most beautiful vistas that WNC has to offer! There is an additional $25 per person creative fee assessed for groups larger than six
(a standard family size).

You’ll want to dress in a way that feels authentic. You’ll want to dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident — like the very best version of you! During your pre-session phone consultation, we'll discuss wardrobe. I am happy to help you to put together your wardrobe for the session OR you can always borrow something from my client closet at the studio if you'd like!

Can we bring the dog?
Due to high demand and limited availability, Creative Fees are non-refundable for any reason.
In the event of illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will simply re-schedule for the very next available date / time that works for both of us!
If possible, we will shoot before or after any inclement weather.
