Apple Orchards near Asheville, NC

Fun Fact: North Carolina ranks seventh in Apple Production in the US with over 200 commercial operations located in the western part of the state! WNC is famous for its lovely, mountain Apple Orchards with many of them located in Asheville’s neighboring counties (Henderson and Haywood)! Visiting Apple Orchards near Asheville is a beloved seasonal tradition for many local families as well as tourists visiting Asheville in autumn! There are a few really great orchards in Henderson County that we love because they’re beautiful and so much fun for children and families!

Sky Top Apple Orchard

Sky Top Orchard is my personal favorite! I’ve been taking my now 6.5 year old son there since he was a toddler! Visiting this beautiful mountain top orchard is one of our most beloved autumn family traditions and one that we look forward to each year!

Perched atop a mountain in Henderson County, Sky Top has the most beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain ridge line views, making it the location for Apple Orchard Family Portraits while apple picking!

In addition to apple picking, Sky Top has a ton of other fun activities for your family such as tractor rides through the orchard, gem mining, shooting the apple cannon over the lake, visiting with the barnyard animals, a ride on the bee train for the littlest ones and they have this massive, amazing playground that your kids will enjoy for hours while you sit at the shaded picnic tables, enjoying your fresh apple cider donuts and cider slushies in the sunshine! It’s just — the best!

Hours: Sky Top Orchard is open every day from 9am – 6pm!

I suggest visiting on a weekday if you can, it gets super busy on the weekends!

Justus Apple Orchard

Justus Orchard is another really great, family friendly Apple Orchard near Asheville! The orchard is a fifth generation, family owned orchard in Henderson County! In addition to being able to pick Apples, Blackberries, Peaches, Asian Pears and Pumpkins, Justus Orchard has so many fun activities for your family including an apple cannon target shooting course, a beautiful new playground, climbing wall, cow train rides through the orchard and a giant jumping pillow! They also sell Apple Cider Donuts and their famous Fried Apples Pies along with cakes and other baked goods, ice cream, apple cider and cider slushies!

Grandad’s Apples N Such

Grandad’s Apples-n-Such is a beloved gem of a place to visit in WNC! The barn & famous silo are situated on 30 acres of Apple & Peach Trees! So, in addition to Apple & Peach Picking, Grandad’s also has a Pumpkin Patch AND a Corn Maze in the fall as well!! The farm is such a gorgeous property, surrounded by those big, beautiful blue ridge mountain views, in my opinion, the pumpkin patch and corn maze really set Grandad’s apart from the rest! In the farm market, you’ll find local honey, canned goods including apple butter, jams, jellies, and chow-chow! You can also purchase fresh pressed apple cider, cider slushies and they fermented apple cider on site as well! And of course, they have apple cider donuts, apple pies, carmel apples and lots of other delicious apple treats for your enjoyment!
