Regan’s mama booked Milestone Portraits (4 portrait sessions, quarterly for baby throughout their first year in order to beautifully & professionally document their growth and development!) It has truly been such a joy to welcome them into the studio during this last year for Regan’s Milestone Sessions and most recently, for her 1st Birthday!

Why do parent’s book Milestone or Cake Smash Photos for their babies?
Typically, new parents often want to document the first birthday milestone for their babies because babies are often crawling, cruising and for some, they’re even walking during their first birthday milestone session! Parent’s often want to include a smash cake as part of the session’s celebration aspect because it’s cute, because eating is often very messy at this stage (and that’s also pretty cute!) and because for some babies, their first birthday marks the very first time that they’re trying any sort of sugary, sweet, dessert such as cake!

How to you choose the theme for Milestone / Cake Smash Portrait Sessions?
During your pre-session planning consultation, we will chat about your baby’s interests at this stage, this could potentially lead to theme inspiration. Most parents come to the pre-session planning consultation with some ideas about color pallet and / or theme in that they may the Milestone / Cake Smash Photoshoot to reflect the theme for their baby’s first birthday party. In this instance Reagan’s mom told me that she had a cow stuffy that she was very attached to and thus, the Holy Cow, Reagan’s ONE theme was born!
