Mommy & Me Mini Sessions in Asheville, NC
Did you know that I actually come from a long line of photographers?
I grew up in a family who really valued photographs as a way to document our family’s history. As a child, the walls of my home were covered in beautiful photographs of our family, of my ancestors, of the places we went and of the things we did, of the memories we made and of the love that we shared! The drawers were full of loose black & white photos of my ancestors, people I never knew, spending time together, doing weird things like lawn bowling in the 50’s & most importantly, loving each other! I think I got my first camera when I was about 7 or 8 years old & the tradition continued with me! I was always that kid, wandering around, snapping photos of my family & my friends and of the places I went and of the things I saw… I still have many of those photos stored away in boxes in my basement today!
I can’t wait for life to settle down a bit, to have time to sit and enjoy looking through those again someday… in the future! 😉 But for now, mom’n takes up allllllll my time and energy! 🙂
I also grew up as the child of a single mother (who really loved beautiful photos & valued those as a way to document our family’s history)! My sweet mama raised two children on her own (with the help of my grandfather), she went to college at night (to eventually earn a degree in social work), she worked 2 & 3 jobs to make ends meet (they never did) & my mama would have LOVED to have had the kinds of beautiful photos that I regularly shoot for my Family Portrait Clients! She could never have afforded that kind of expense though… I think ONE time, we went to Olan Mills Portrait Studio for Family Portraits and that was a huge deal!
When I was in my early 20’s & realized my passion for photography & started this business, I decided that I would always honor my mama by offering significantly reduced portrait sessions, JUST for MAMAS one time per year, every year, around Mother’s Day!
I’ve kept that promise all these years & last year, sadly, I lost my precious Mama…. so my promise to honor her in this way has become even more important to me! <3
This year, I’ve photographed ten mamas with their littles so far with many more to come as part of this event & over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of these images with you!
First up: Trish & Jack!
I first met Trish & her husband, Mike a few years ago when I shot THE MOST BEAUTIFUL couples sunset session for them, on top of Max Patch Mountain! I really loved my time with them and their sweet, silly pup & since then, we’ve shot a couple other Christmas Minis & I imagine, now that they’ve become parents, I’ll see even more of them (which I’m really excited about!) Isn’t Trish just SO stunning & that Jack — he is the CUTEST little thing!
