CREATIVE FEES:

Creative Fees simply compensate your photographer for their time to email, prepare & process paperwork, consult and plan with you prior to your portrait session. Creative Fees pay for your photographer's time and talent to shoot your portrait session, for their time & talent to edit your images and the time it takes to deliver your proof gallery and to order and deliver any purchased prints, wall art, albums or digital files from your order

Prints, Wall Art, Albums & Digital Files are not included with the Creative Fee. 
Anything you would like to order can be purchased separately after your portrait proof gallery has been delivered. 

Maternity Creative Fees are entirely used to create the types of images that you see in my Maternity Photography Portfolio .
Maternity Creative Fees pay for your Professional Hair & Makeup Service. ($200-250).
Maternity Creative Fees pay for your custom, couture Maternity Gown rental. 
(while I do have a large Maternity Client Closet on hand, I simply cannot keep every gown option, in every size and color on hand, so often, Maternity Gown selections are a rental, to the tune of $150 - 200)
Therefore, I rely on your print purchases to make a living, to support my family!

Newborn Creative Fees are primarily used to create the types of images that you see in my Newborn Photography Portfolio .
Each Newborn Portrait Session is custom, meaning that I design Newborn Sessions sets based on parents' preferences for theme, color and concept. which means that I often need to purchase a few new items specifically for your baby's portrait session!
While I have a very large prop archive, I often spend $150-200 + on specialty prop items purchased from Etsy artisans or other Newborn Vendors specifically for your little one's session! 
In addition to this, Newborn Sessions typically require 2hrs to set up / tear down + 3hrs shooting time + 3-4hrs editing & delivery time.
Therefore, I rely on your print purchases to make a living, to support my family!

Each Cake Smash Portrait Session is custom, meaning that I design Sessions sets based on parents' preferences for theme, color and concept. which means that I often purchase set items specifically for your baby's portrait session!
While I have a very large prop archive, I often spend $200 + on decorations & specialty prop items specifically for your child!
In addition to this, Cake Smash Sessions typically require 2..5hrs to set up / tear down + 1.5hrs shooting time + 3-4hrs editing & delivery time. Therefore, I rely on your print purchases to make a living, to support my family!

what it means to be an above board legitimate business owner:

With 15 years industry experience,  I am a locally, state and federally compliant business. I pay for the appropriate local & state required licenses,  I carry appropriate liability insurance as well as equipment & vehicle insurances. I pay for several photography related  business tools with monthly & yearly subscriptions for software and website / hosting, etc. I am also a nationally recognized member of several professional photography organizations that require yearly dues and in addition to all of that,
I pay roughly 40% of everything I make in state and federal taxes. 

Unlike photographers that you might find who will do it cheaper, I can promise you one thing: they won't do it better. 
I also understand that what they're doing is a race to the bottom.
I value my time, I value my time with my family and I want to retire someday. 
Therefore, I know that I simply cannot just give my work product away for less than what it costs to actually run an above board, legitimate business  in the state of North Carolina and this is why I choose to structure my pricing in this way.

Why am I telling you this?

As a third generation photographer and 15yr veteran in this industry, I feel that it is my duty to educate not only prospective clients about the actual value of what they're paying for but also the next generation of photographers...
